Mass Intentions Policy

The practice of taking more than one offering for a single Mass or collective or multiple intentions, while not the norm, is permitted by the Diocese of San Jose for pastoral reasons with specific restrictions.

In accordance with the new (May 2006) 'Stipends and Mass Intentions" notification from San Jose Diocese and an approval from the Pastor of St. Joseph's Parish, with the consideration that our community is celebrating only one Mass per month, here is our Mass intentions policy.

As we all know, we are giving $75 stipend for regular Mass and $100 for special Mass (Easter, Christmas, New Year etc) to our Mass main celebrant, we are suggesting an offering of $50 per Mass offering family.

Here are the few guidelines for our Mass intentions procedure which comes in to effect from August 2006.

1. More than one family per month can offer the Mass.

2. Suggested donation per family per Mass is $50; you are welcome to give more if you so desire.

3. Offering family should be a member of Bay Area Tamil Catholic community.

4. Please forward your offering to our CFO, your offering should reach us on or before the Mass day. You can forward the offering to Bay Area Tamil Catholic Community (BATCC), PO BOX 1283, MOUNTAIN VIEW CA 94042-1283.
